Canterbury Representative Volleyball

Canterbury has a proud history within New Zealand Volleyball, with National titles across the different age groups, and a number of our athletes achieving selection to National teams and squads.

The New Zealand Provincial Championships is contested annually over Queens Birthday weekend.  The 14 Associations throughout NZ come together to contest the title in Wellington, allowing athletes to compete for their region in the mighty RED & BLACK, play against the best athletes within their age group and continue on their representative pathway.

2025 Tournament: May 31st - 2nd June (Kings Birthday weekend)

Venue: Akau Tangi Sports Centre, Kilbirnie, Wellington

Monday 7th April - 7:00pm-9:00pm (Nga Puna Wai) - U17 & U19 Boys

Saturday 12th April - 10am-12:00pm (Nga Puna Wai) - U17 & U19 Girls

Monday 14th April - 7:00pm-9:00pm (Nga Puna Wai) - U17 & U19 Girls

Thursday 17th April - 6:30pm-8:30pm (Pioneer Stadium) - U17 & U19 Boys

2025 Canterbury Open Men & Women Trials: 

Thursday 3rd April - 6:30pm - 8pm (Riccarton High School) - Open Womens 

Saturday 12th April - 10am - 12pm (Nga Puna Wai) - Open Mens

Monday 14th April - 7pm - 9pm (Nga Puna Wai) - Open Mens

Training Dates:

Either Sunday late afternoon or Wednesday evening. Will be confirmed once selections are made

2025 costs: $810 per person, includes:

- 3 nights accommodation

- transport & fuel while on tournament

- food (breakfast, lunch & snacks)

- entry fee to tournament

- training top

​What isn’t included:

- airfares to/from Wellington

- mains for dinners (athletes will make this before travelling) ​
